After a lot of self realisation in my last post (my video), and probably one of the most in-depth email conversations with Claudia, I realised that the best place to start with work experience is a place that I have also previously worked at for a few days at the age of seventeen. It's publicly known as Vox Africa and is in Battersea Studios. I'm not going to lie when I previously worked there I didn't really take the role too serious - especially as I was mostly observing and not really that head strong in the part of journalism I wanted to go to.

However, it was enjoyable seeing people taking out their roles and reporting news from African countries. I remember meeting a French reporter who was very passionate about politics in his country, which I think was Dr Congo.

I remember going into the recording booth and making my own script for voice overs on images shown on the news channel, which was very enjoyable too!

The best part had to be seeing Claudia reporting LIVE news - she was actually amazing! It was really inspiring watching that and also being behind the screen watching one of my few inspirations taking out the job that I had to do in the future

Overall, it was very insightful looking at such a busy, vibrant and happy team at Vox Africa, and I am really looking forward to going back as the stronger journalist that I have become over these past 2 years! I am due to start working there as soon as I'm free, it can be quite difficult for job opportunities to open up, but it's definitely somewhere that I'd like to work in the near future!

**DISCLAIMER** written on 10/01/14 - 2 years later and the changes that I'm seeing in my attitude and drive is shocking. Things that I say I will do I am actually doing, I'm no longer procrastinating and couldn't be happier! It's great seeing your personal growth right in front of your very eyes. Never give up the faith, God always has a way of turning the impossible into possible

#Happy :)

Very relieved to have made the CV - especially through the numerous Cv surgeries that I was doing during uni - it's finally been made! Not amazing but let's see what OK! will have to see as I've just emailed it to them!

I'll be sure to post updates about my job opps too, but until then, I'm going to start posting vids/posts of general issues I would like to talk about!

so far I've mostly been attending loads of workshops and events, applied for an intern at c4 jobs, got rejected, (boo) but that's not stopping me! There's millions of opportunities out there waiting for me, so as soon as I get my CV done the better!

So sometime next week I wanna improve on my practical skills and randomly do some practical/active work. I want to confront a certain issue, interview people about it, editing the footage and posting it here! Sounds simple, but my editing skills are a bit weak so it's time to familiarise myself more with the video editing tools on my iTouch..this shall be interesting! So let's give it a week?
I love my family
I love pictures!
I love travelling/holidays/HEAT.

- I have the most amazing friends. As in, I sometimes ask myself why I'm so lucky! I've never had the type of friendship where I've lost a lot of trust in them. It takes me a while to trust people easily and to be honest, I'd rather have a handful of true friends than a bunch of associates

- I am an organised, clean, crazy freak! I like things neat and organised, my room is infested with post-its and my 2012 diary looks like a gallery already! (as well as my own personal diary)

- I am a Christian. I have a lot of faith in my religion and I absolutely love it. Why? Because at the end of the day my religion is the only thing that actually makes sense to me. (Hebrews 13:5, Hebrews 11:1 & John 3:16 are a few of my faves)

- I like the concept of life. The fact that we're born, grow, and inherit characteristics that differs us from others.

- I love my life, I like socialising, talking to people, making people laugh, and generally being happy! Yes I have down days but I'm saying what I love instead ;)
Okay so my motto for 2012 is; "R.I.P Procrastination!" The updates need to be more and more fluent and believe me, its by force that this place will be looking spotless!

Right. So I'm looking for Journalism internship jobs (applied for about 2 so far) and realised that I don't have a frickin CV! If I've only done minimal things then how am I gunna come up with a CV!

Solution: when going to Kings College Uni for several work shops late last year, I found that Journalist CV's are the complete opposite of what I thought they'd be! Simply just list down contact details of where you've worked! o_O so I must start with a few unknown-not-so-amaze places before I work my way up!

Goldsmiths (the University I attend is actually has a fantastic careers service!) I plan on popping in sometime next week with a little help from what they call 'CV surgery'..should be very helpful!

Also, with the portfolio, I'm gunna buy an A3 book to put some of my physical work which I've managed to scrapple together in it. Somewhat relieved to say that the checklist is getting smaller :-)
Okay so this blog may not be 100% but I can guarantee that later on I won't be saying the same! I plan to do soo much work this year, signing up to loads of places, contacting all sorts of employers and I randomly started thinking of attending Summer schools for Journalism which will be exciting. Over the past couple of months I have actually come across people at Uni or have even just graduated and are even unsure of what they actually want to do, and to be honest that really does freak me out. I can't determine what goes on in my future but as for now I know this is the only profession that I can imagine getting into! So I'm going to work towards that goal. You only have one life so not knowing what you want to do with it isn't the kind of position I could ever imagine myself being in. I can do this! 2012 is all going to be about me FOCUSING towards the important things in my life and working towards a successful future and no more procrastinating with ANYTHING! This is going to be a great year :-)
